Roofing Salary Estimator

WORKON ROOFS · Tools

Calculate a gross annual pay scenario from your own rates and paid hours. This worksheet does not predict market wages or take-home pay.

Enter your assumptions

Estimated gross annual pay: Enter your assumptions to calculate.

What the calculation means

Formula: (regular rate × regular hours + overtime rate × overtime hours) × paid weeks. The fields start empty; all assumptions come from you. Enter the actual rates and realistic paid time from your offer. The worksheet does not decide whether overtime rules apply to your job.

Compare realistic scenarios

Run a base-hours scenario first, then a separate scenario with extra hours. Exclude reimbursements from wages. Taxes, benefits, deductions, bonuses, and commission are not included. See our methodology for how to interpret pay information.

Use a consistent year

This worksheet models up to 52 paid weeks. Enter regular and overtime hours separately; their combined weekly total cannot exceed 168. Enter zero where a category does not apply. For salary, commission, piece-rate work, or changing seasonal hours, calculate separate periods or use the written compensation plan instead.

Three scenarios to run instead of one optimistic forecast

Run a base case using the hours and paid weeks you can reasonably support, a lower-hours case for downtime, and an overtime case only if it is relevant. Keep each input visible so you can explain why the results differ.

Illustrative scenario
Inputs
Gross result
Base
Base $25; 40 regular hours; $37.50 overtime rate; 0 overtime hours; 48 paid weeks
$48,000
Less paid work
Same inputs, but 44 paid weeks
$44,000
Some overtime
Base $25; 40 regular hours; $37.50 overtime rate; 5 overtime hours; 48 paid weeks
$57,000

How to choose the inputs

Use an actual offered base rate. Enter overtime hours separately from regular hours and enter the applicable overtime rate—not merely the premium portion. Enter zero when no overtime is assumed. Paid weeks should reflect your scenario, not automatically 52. If hours vary substantially, calculate separate periods and add them outside this simple model.

The formula is (base hourly rate × regular weekly hours + overtime hourly rate × weekly overtime hours) × paid weeks. It assumes those weekly values stay constant for the selected period. It does not determine legal overtime eligibility or calculate a regular rate affected by bonuses, differentials or other pay.

Keep these items outside the result

Taxes, employee benefit deductions, commission, bonuses, reimbursements and employer-paid benefits are not included. BLS occupational wages answer a different question and exclude several premium-pay components. Compare the calculator to your offer, not to a promise about what all roofers earn.

Save your inputs next to the result. “$57,000” without the assumed five overtime hours and 48 paid weeks is incomplete information.
