How to distinguish evidence from examples

Content type How to read it
Official data Look for occupation, geography, measure, reference period and source
Employer posting example Evidence of one employer’s stated requirements on a date—not an industry-wide rule
Credential information Confirm current eligibility and scope with the issuing body
Worked calculation Illustrative arithmetic using stated assumptions—not a surveyed average
Interview script A fictional model to adapt truthfully—not a claimed success story
AI output A draft to check against source material—not verified advice by default

Standards applied to the enriched guides

Prefer the original authority for numerical, legal, licensing or credential claims. Name the scope when a dataset covers a broader occupation than the page’s audience. Keep unsupported hiring-speed, earnings and employer-quality claims out of the copy. Link sources near the relevant material or in the page’s source section.

Advice and examples can be useful without pretending they are research findings. A sample takeoff, interview answer or hiring checklist should explain its assumptions and intended use. It must not be presented as a real customer result or a universal industry standard.

Dates, revisions and limitations

The research date records when material was checked; it is not a promise that every external page remains unchanged. There is no automatic update feed for these guides. Readers should recheck time-sensitive prices, program intake, regulations and job availability with the source.

Reports should identify the exact page, statement and supporting evidence through Corrections. A broken external link, an inaccurate number and a difference of opinion are different issues and should be described separately. This policy does not claim a staffed review schedule or guaranteed response deadline that has not been established.

How to read our guides

Career articles explain questions to ask, experience to demonstrate, and factors to compare. Examples are illustrative and should be adapted to the reader’s actual circumstances. Content should distinguish supported facts, editorial guidance, and hypothetical calculations.

Sources and boundaries

When a page relies on occupational statistics or a named training program, readers should be able to find the original source. Program requirements, job listings, and employer terms can change. Confirm decisions with the relevant provider or employer. Career guides are not technical installation instructions or individualized legal advice.

Accuracy and independence

Resource links do not imply an affiliation, certification, or endorsement. Job advertisements reflect the employer’s opportunity and should be evaluated independently. We avoid presenting unsupported rankings, invented wage ranges, or unverifiable guarantees as facts.

Readers can flag inaccurate or outdated content through Contact. Include the page URL and the specific statement so it can be reviewed. See Corrections Policy.

Dates and data coverage

A review date means the page was checked on that date; it does not mean the page updates automatically. Wage references should identify the occupation, geography, reference period, and source date. Career examples should remain clearly separated from survey results and promises about hiring outcomes.
